** In between the Thursday workshops, after the Friday tournament, and on Saturday, the VCF staff manning the VCF exhibit booths will allow
FREE use of our chess sets and provide FREE post-tournament game review **




TOURNAMENT DESCRIPTION:
This is a 4-round tournament; Round 1 starts at 10am sharp (see below for other round times).

Time Control: G/25, d3
Each player is alloted 25 minutes to complete all moves, and each move includes a 3-second "delay" or pause to refocus on the board after each move.

ROUND TIMES: Thursday: 10:00am - 11:15pm - 1:00pm - 2:15pm

Prize Awards Ceremony: 3:30pm, approximately. This will immediately follow the finish of the last game in the last round. See prizes below.

There are 2 sections ... one for those "Aged 12-19" and one for "Age 11 and Under."

As with last year, no USCF membership is required. Notation is not required. This is an UN-rated chess tournament.

LOCATION: Greater Richmond Convention Center - Exhibit Hall - VA Chess Federation booth area.




WHO CAN PLAY:
Any homeschooled child in Pre-K through 12th grade (ages 19 and under).
This tournament is open to non-Virginia residents.

NOTE: Children must be able to play a complete game of chess / know all the basic rules in order to enter.
Graduating seniors who have reached the age of 19 and not yet started college (dual enrollment is ok) are eligible to play.




PRIZES:

The prize fund for the tournament are Trophies, Medals and Ribbons!

SECTION: AGES 11 and Under:

2 Champion Trophies: "Age 9-11" and "Age 8 and Under"
Chess Medals: Players with 2 tournament points (wins) or more
Ribbons: All Remaining Players

SECTION: AGES 12-19:

2 Champion Trophies: "High School" and "Middle School"
Chess Medals: Players with 2 tournament points (wins) or more
Ribbons: All Remaining Players

Please note: prize details (age-specifics, section cut-offs, etc) may be adjusted to accomodate the scope of entries, at the discression of the VCF TDs. Any such adjustment will be posted at the tournament before the start of Round 1, and time permitting, on this webpage.

EARLY ENTRY FEE: Until 12 Midnight May 31st (Fri) $20

LATE & ON-SITE ENTRY FEE: $30

Regular LATE & ON-SITE Registration will be accepted at this price at the tournament if space is available: from Friday 9:00 - 9:50am.

On-line pre-entries will be accepted until 12 midnight, June 4th (Tuesday). Thereafter, entries will be taken at the tournament site only (see 'On-Site Entry Fee' below). If registration reaches the cap, the next 6 entries will be put on a waiting list.

REFUNDS:
Full refunds will be provided for those on waiting list but unable to play.
Full refunds will be provided for those who withdraw by notifying VCF up to Midnight Thursday, June 6th.
